Annoy the Frog Updates
This page records meaningful changes to the game and website. Annoy the Frog is a small independent browser project, so updates focus on character, responsiveness, accessibility, and keeping the experience quick to load.
July 2026 — The current public build
The first complete version introduced the frog’s lounge, touch and mouse dragging, throwing, gravity, rotation, wall and floor collisions, bouncing, friction, and automatic upright recovery.
Facial reactions became the main source of personality. The frog now blinks with dedicated eyelid artwork, follows the pointer while grabbed, reacts while airborne, changes expression after impacts, and returns to his unimpressed resting face. His glasses can bounce or shift after harder collisions.
Voice and music improvements
Individual voice lines replaced the original combined recording. Reactions are intentionally occasional instead of playing after every impact. Mouth animation runs only while a voice clip is active, and the background music can be turned off at any time.
Mobile and layout work
The game was adjusted for phones so the wide sitting sprite can travel farther without becoming unreachable. Touch behavior, responsive sizing, page spacing, navigation, search metadata, and the simplified game-first homepage were also refined.
What may come next
Future work may include more precise mouth poses, better reaction timing, additional original audio, accessibility improvements, performance tuning, and small refinements based on player feedback. The project will keep the same basic rule: no complicated systems should get in the way of the frog’s personality.
